The Different Types of Abdominal Pain

The abdomen is a big black box. A lot of things can happen in the abdomen from benign to life threatening. There are inflammatory states in the abdomen that either may not show up on CT imaging, or perhaps don't exist in the abdomen at all but just refers pain there. Abdominal pain requires strategic, stepwise history taking at the bedside, targeted exam, labs in imaging, and often serial examinations or follow-up.
