The Pros and Cons of Neon at NSF

The typical lifespan of a grant coming from the National Science Foundation is four or five years. Neon was deliberately distributed to cover a bunch of quantitatively defined sort of bio geographic regions so that the information would be available in a more comprehensive way than what we got out of the LTR network. The long term is a much longer term investment in generating data.
