The Evolution of Louisiana Voodoo

Louisiana Voodoo has a decidedly more Catholic flavor than its Haitian and West African counterparts. In the Louisiana form of Voodoo there seems to be less emphasis placed on the Loa, although they do pop up. A great way to illustrate this difference is by looking at the figure of Papa Legba. You're more likely to pray to Saint Peter than call on Papa Legba in Louisiana Voodoo.
