Mary Buckland, William Buckland undertook such a journey in the Alps on their honeymoon. It lasted a whole year where they collected all sorts of data. She was described using microscopes to look at marine animals even shortly before her death. And she had nine children. But not allowed to be a fellow of the Royal Society? Do you don't think? I doubt it. Today it is quite a big deal. But not probably at the time.
