The Importance of Inequality in the Global Economy
In 2015, Wall Street bonuses were twice the size of the entire wage bill of everybody in the United States on minimum wage. You can have pretty unequal societies as long as people feel there's a legitimate chance that they or their kids will have a chance to move up the ladder. But if you feel that all the advantages are going to a particular class and they're holding them, it doesn't really matter what the numbers are. It's this felt sense that this system is rigged.
