The Importance of Focus in Prosody

I encourage people to read that with an open mind, but with some skepticism at the same time. I was very fascinated by this paper by was it bearing on specifically prosody. Even when he's talking about morphological marking, he's still trying to understand it in prosodic terms. He even shows and tries to explain some syntactic focus stuff by saying, okay, they are actually moving it to the more prominent part of the intonation phrase. It gives you a lot of examples to work with to like see all kinds of different ways that focus is marked.
