When my parents divorced in 1980, I was nine years old and divorce wasn't incredibly common. But now it seems like that sort of the common story. And our churches are filled with divorced people and no one is at the door checking to see if they were inappropriate divorces. We've ceased treating gay people as image bearers; we've ceased treating them as in process. It's an entirely different attitude when it comes to gay marriage.
