There is this paradox, sometimes, it seems, of democracy. I don't have ther's got to be some kind of happy medium between the two. Even good friends of mine in china, who are in the chinese scheme of things, would ordinarily care about oppression of minority peoples. But right now they see this as just the cynical weaponization of this human rights problem by the united states to try to keep china down. They think that the united states has blown it so out of proportion and basically, you know, a deeply cynical way.
