The Story of Alcatraz
Jolene Babiak was 15 when three inmates escaped from Alcatraz. Her father had just become acting governor of the jail and was in charge at the time. The escape attempt would go down in American penal history. Three men loosened the ventilation grills at the back of their cells with stolen spoons. They then climbed up the maze of pipes and rafters into the roof 30 feet above.
