The Epic of Gilgamesh by Sophos, Heli

The Epic of Gilgamesh by Sophos, Heli was a fantastic start to the Great Books project. If you are a beginner with with Gilgamesh, if you've never read it before, I do suggest starting with the Stephen Mitchell version. The story has woven its way into other texts as Sophie Selle mentioned. It's just so easy to read and just if you just need the basic gist of the story, start with that.
