The Legacy of Mon-Motham
Mon-Motham's actions contribute to the New Republic's eventual undoing. Her drive for ensuring peace and demilitarization eventually left the New Republic in a weakened, exposed, unprepared state. The New Republic she quickly built fractured without her strong presence after she was hailed. In classic Disney fashion, a great way to end off a story arc is to just have them fail miserably at life then cap it off there.
