Children born into families that received more cash each month had greater brain activity patterns associated with developing cognitive skills. The us spends a much smaller share on child poverty than the o e c d average, with very little in the way of direct financial aid. Among the countries with the least child poverty are finland and denmark, even poland and ireland.
