The Rise of Chinese Universities in the 1950s
I think there's a tendency in accounts of universities in China to skip right past the war years and even, you know, through the early PRC. But if you go back in the earlier period, one of the remarkable things is how universities, such as Peking University and Chinghua University rise to be great Universities in China. And they defend the values of universities the world over during the great crisis of China's modern age.
