China's population began to shrink in 1991, but the alarm bells really started ringing for authorities back in 2016. Luna Sun is based in Beijing and reported on some of the things discouraging young women from choosing to have children. She says that once you have a strong individual consciousness, or you have more life choices, you may not choose to have kids. The government needs to change its policy to convince women that having children is a good idea.
