Yung: conscience is a very understudied phenomena in psychology. People can be conscientious, and maybe those are people who listen to their conscience more - i don't know. And the fact that you do have this little voice, whatever it is, inside your head, it's like, what the hell's up with that? You know? It doesn't tell you what you want to hear,. least as far as i can tell. That'd be a froidian view, that's the superego....
