How do you not lose, oh, there is a purpose to life in that giving up of control or acceptance of control? I have seen people come to stoicism and say, well, now, wait a minute, if I don't have any control, I mean, what's the point? Why should I even effort? How can anything matter if I really don’t have any control? What do my actions matter anyway? There's some conflict just in stoicism in general because we have the fact that stoics were deterministic, but they were also compatibilists. And that in itself is a very confusing thing to understand.
