The Ascension of Tacitus

This chapter discusses the ascension of Tacitus as the emperor after Aurelian's death. Tacitus promises to renew the partnership between the emperor and the senate but immediately cancels the stay of execution for the conspirators who were behind Aurelian's murder. Tacitus rounds up the conspirators and orders them killed to pacify the vengeful soldiers. He also puts the march to Persia on hold to deal with German tribes raiding Roman territory.
