The Effects of Sensory Information on Trauma Memory
During trauma all of that gets encoded very over encoded and particularly if we're losing consciousness. The sights the the sounds and the smells and the feelings in the body can be enough to put back a memory of the trauma someone's been through. We'll bring one patient to mind who was driving her car near oxford when she saw these four ducks swaddling across the road so she slammed on her brakes which led to an accident. She wasn't expecting it to happen but before she lost consciousness all of the sights and theSounds and the smells were encoding for her.
