The Geopolitics of Fusion Energy Generation

Fusion is definitely a much more tricky engineering prospect than fission. I think probably the turning point for fusion was when Dwight D. Eisenhower, the then president of the United States, he gave what became known as the Adams for Peace speech in December of 1953. And out of the back of that came this interest in looking at fusion as a potential energy source. So definitely a very strong link, I would say, was certainly how I interpreted it from looking through the history of this.
