The Importance of Tone and Sensitivity in Cable News
Rupert Murdoch had a lot of envy for the network success and it inspired him to start Fox news. CNN's mission is 24 hour cable news filling up all the time that there is in the world at all times. In traditional network news you are trying to bring in an audience and often you're bringing them disturbing news but on CNN you want to appeal to as broad a swath of the public as possible. It takes kind of a different approach to news to attract viewers to a 24 hour news network.
