The Origins of My Career
When he was in his late teens, still at school, my father gave me a very small sum to invest and access to his broker. So that certainly shuffled my enthusiasm for this as a rouge going forward. I went to Oxford to read DBE, where I had really quite exceptional tutors. And from there, went into the city where I actually didn't know anybody. He started running capital giving trust in 1982 when it was fairly modest in size.
