Judge David Counts invalidated a provision of federal law that makes it unlawful for someone subject to a domestic violence restraining order to possess a firearm. The judge found glaringly absent from colonial times until 1994, consistent examples of the government removing firearms from someone accused or even convicted of domestic violence.
