On November 9th, the Supreme Court was scheduled to hear arguments in Holland v. Brakeen. Members of the public can watch oral arguments at the Supreme Court, but they can't reserve a seat. To get in, you have to stand in line for hours. When I asked people why they traveled to the Supreme Court that day, many had personal stories like Phon Sharpe who tried to adopt Native siblings and was turned down by white family.
