The Saturnine drank plasmids and called it ambrosia, the nectar of the gods. They tried to reconnect with the nature that Rapture is so distant from. And through the religious impulse that everyone basically has, they kind of form this cult. It didn't seem that their religion was all that deep. But I could see that happening in a place like Rapture where people are just like 'I want to go be Amish now'
