Boris Johnson's Assurances Were Not From Senior Civil Servants, but From Political Appointees, Right?

Boris Johnson told the House he had been given assurances that COVID rules and guidance were followed at all times in number 10. But evidence released just before the committee, which we talked about earlier, was that Simon Kase, the cabinet's secretary, a civil servant, rather than a politician, denied giving him those assurances. And even his political aides that he was relying on said that he'd been repeatedly assured no rules were broken. Joyce Pinfield is the vice chair of the National Care Association and the owner of a care home in Lincolnshire. She says: "It felt that both his responses were asking us to stretch credulity and that the committee went prepared to do that"
