Is There a Risk to Overtalking Celebrities and Undertalking the Church?
A lot of the scandals and abuses that do get covered, they center on celebrities. But one of the striking things for me as a pastor is churches don't have anything close to a celebrity church. So while someone can learn from Mark Driscoll's example, it doesn't actually help the church deal with actual ways that abuse and scandal take root in smaller, mid-sized churches. When it comes to which stories that we choose to tell, we have four criteria: Prominence, impact, relevance, and access.
