By the nine hundred seventies it seemed as if probably a permanent coexistence and integration would happen in britain. This may have been largely because the scandinavian homelands were prospering with a lot of silver coming in from the east from the islamic caliphate. When this flow of silver was again cut off in the nine hundred eighties it seems that the raids from scandinavia restarted they escalated drastically in the nine hundred nineties. The norse rulers who dreamed of taking control of england converted to christianity and because they were christian they could make a credible claim to rulership over all of england. sphane fork beard
