The Challenge of Reducing Costs in Rail Production
The factory's manufacturing line was equipped with a straightener for the bending and straightening of rail tracks. The metal would naturally curve after buckling in the heat, necessitating the use of straighteners to bring it back into line. 1.6 meters on both ends of each steel rail they produced had to be cut off and regarded as waste during the process.
