Stephen Wilson is a neuroscientist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Today he talks about an exciting new paper that just came out in the New England Journal of Medicine. The authors implanted an electrode array over sensory motor cortex in the brain of a patient with an arthria, a complete inability to articulate speech. They then use machine learning to create models for decoding words and sentences that the patient is trying to produce.
