The Role of Melatonin in Insomnia

Melatonin is the neurohormone of darkness. Melatonin sets your internal body clock and it's a signal for you to start feeling sleepy. It tends to peak in the middle night, maybe one, maybe two, maybe three a.m. And then just before the sun comes out, it drops back close to zero. Light exposure will manipulate your melatonin secretion.
