Walt Disney started out as a cartoonist with the kansas city slide company. He became interested in cell animation, which used overlapping layers of illustrations on celluloid sheets to quickly create elaborate handi cartoons. After being laid off, he and his friend ub decided to start their own company. They had some initial success but were soon shutdered. Walt was determined that this was the future, and he needed to learn how to do it. And so he set up a studio in his parents garage. A recurring theme throughout disney's career would be new life from old fables and fairy tales.
