Augustin's Theology of the Donatists

The Donatists emerged decades before Augustin's birth. They were born out of the anti-Christian persecutions that occurred at the dawn of the 4th century. The theological positions he staked out in the course of these debates became fundamental to Western Christianity, as we see it today.
