The Power of Habit

If you have a bad habit, the best way to change it isn't try to remove that habit. You take the same thing that tends to set the habit off, and you apply a new behaviour that has the same trigger. And then what happens is that the old pathway of the bad habit just won't happen any more. Trigger, because now a new pathway will happen instead. Then first you will have that behaviour. But overtime, it will become more and more automatic. And thenwhat will happen is that the bad habit, although it won't ever completely go away, it will start to wither. It will start to decay.
