In 18 o four, less than a year before napoleon's coronation, the world was changing very quickly. It had been 16 and a half years since the people of paris stormed the bastile. Just over six years since napoleon's seizure of power in the coup of brumer. And as we'll see later in this episode, he was in the process of cementing control over much of western and southern germany too.
