The Reaction to Meritocracy

The Bay of Pigs is the prototypical example of a very talented elite failing miserably. I think that there is a sense that the elite tend to be too much for themselves and there is this phenomenon in social psychology called groupthink. And by pushing too much in a one dimensional system, we end up with enormous distortion.
