The Problem of Personal Identity
The problem of personal identity by philosophers is really a problem to do with what kind of thing we are. And therefore, given the kind of thing that we are, under what conditions we remain in existence or cease to exist, that's what we're trying to define. So how can the animal and the person possibly come apart? I think that there are two main types of case which philosophers have thought represented possibilities.
