The Persistence Performance Gap Between Open Source and Open Source Models
There will be this persistent performance gap potentially between the best kind of edge, close source models from places like OpenAI as opposed to what you can get from open source. The frontier is constantly moving and it's likely to be the kind of the proprietary research AI research organizations that are advancing that frontier. There is an open question about how smart does the model need to be for certain tasks. For example, even for a customer service bot, if you wanted to just be able to deal with all the edge cases and so on, you'd need the smartest model.
