The Monsanto Roundup Controversy

The LD50 is the dose of a chemical necessary to kill 50% of test animals. Glyphosate has an LD50 of 5600 milligrams per kilogram of body weight. That's 5.6 grams, which is a huge amount compared to other noxious chemicals like acetaminophen in your Tylenol. Even if there were a long-term accumulation effect of trace amounts of glyphosate from your produce, the data have been crunched and it would mean that even if you weren’t washing your produce, that you'd have to eat 65 pounds of produce per day to even have a chance of reaching some sort of toxicity effect by using Roundup.
