Price is the signal point of information that matches supply or demand, and it rations scarce goods in the maximumly efficient way. The bad old system was government setting prices. You don't want wage and price controls. That's all this nonsense that we've left behind in the dark ages when nixon was doing it. I totally agree that that has lost its taboo stigma.
