The world record for holding your breath underwater from professional breathhole diver is 24 minutes and 37 seconds. Kate Winslet in Avatar 2 was doing 7 minutes? That's crazy. Free divers can move better in the ascent as far as scuba divers, because they don't get nitrogen saturating their tissues. The nitrogen doesn't have time to get in, because it's just going up and down.
