The Importance of Clearing the Mind in a Marathon
The mental component is so great in a marathon especially if you get more cognitively fatigued as everything your body gets fatigued. Your brain is not going to be able to see it's clear and I think the good athletes who we think are always on their games they love that moment when the mind gets cloudy. That's an opportunity for them to clear the fog that their body is saying hey please stop slow down by all means and this but they clear their mind.
