So far we've seen lots of pledges around NHS performance from both Sunak and Starmer, a desire to focus on that. Labour have talked quite a lot about prevention but I don't think either party has really got close to grappling with the kind of challenges and questions Sam outlines. How do we keep more senior experience staff in place? Now can we increase management rather than clinical capacity? And then there's so much focus on people and understandably so but what about capital investment? The NHS estate is in a terrible state and that needs attention too.
