The new stratum v2 protocol is designed to be more secure and efficient. There's no pool fee yet, so some miners are using Binance or Ant pools for now. The only reason you'd have incentives to do this is if it decreases pool fees. But I would think maybe a censorship level attack at the mining level, maybe a man in the middle sort of security attack, those could be catalyst to really propel strumetv2 forward.
