How to Memorize Words Correctly

Do you encode these words or is it you just put them on a, encode them on a location or do you just sort of repeat them? Usually I grab like the last four to six words, but immediately after grabbing and after I finish memorization, I try to put them on locations. And so I try to make sure because just saying them in your head can screw the recall up sometimes some some words similar and suddenly one word morphs into another word of a location before. Many other times someone was extremely confident that the last words are safe and then you write down 46 words, you come to your last locations.
