The First European to See Lake Huron
Champlain and Brule would head south along the Georgian Bay shoreline, mapping roughly 100 miles of the area. They would meet up with Father Coron in mid-August at a Huron village. The plan was to go to war with the Iroquois, who lived south of the St. Lawrence River,. Champlain agreed to accompany the Huron on their campaign, bringing with him about ten Frenchmen. But when Champlain would set out with the Huron in early September, Brulegg would not go with him. Instead, Brule would be sent south, along with a dozen Huron warriors, to the lands of the Siskuahannak.
