Is the Fed Funds Rate Policy a B Plus?
"I give them a B plus on the Fed funds rate policy, but I give them a D on the quantitative reasoning," says MERSAs. "They knew the job market was really strong. They knew households had all this excess saving from the pandemic." He adds that it would have been difficult to stop QE without raising the rates at the same time.
