The Importance of Public Provision in Sustainable Food Production

I'm actually an advocate. I mean, what I would argue is that we need to invest huge amounts of money in sustainable food production. And it has to be like a national initiative like the Manhattan Project or the moon thing. So they say that when you have public investment in agricultural R&D, which can be freely used by everybody, you get like an 80% return on your investment. It's the private sector doing it and the restricting access, you get much lower returns to your investment because you're not letting people use it.
