Our ancestors spent most of their time outdoors in pristine natural environments, engaging in rewarding physical activity with people they know and love. Evening time would have involved eating the freshest, most organic food-buzzable, sitting around fires telling stories, playing music and dancing. If that doesn't sound like the good life, I don't know what it is. It's not without its brutality, human beings are of course both predators and prey. Without modern medicine, a broken bone or a deep wound is often fatal. But even considering these risks, we need to ensure we're not just projecting our own fears onto our ancestors.
