The Role of the Catholic Church in the Reformation
When the Roman Empire fell, Europe was in a tough place. Most of the intellectual stuff moved east to the Ottoman Empire. Technology brought about so much prosperity that more and more people were able to secure themselves. The church did gather a lot of money because the prosperity was going up. And they eventually funneled all that money to the Vatican which led to this schism between Protestants and Catholics.
