The Supply Chain for Computers
The biggest public AI model to date when we wrote this paper and I believe it's still the case, is Wudau 2.0,. It's got 1.75 trillion parameters. And that's roughly similar to the number of synapses in a mouse brain. We're talking about a specialized stack of software and hardware, including processors, memory, networking, engineers who bought AI specific workloads or applications. When you look at the supply chain, there's just like massively high barriers to entry and incredible concentration along that supply chain.
